The radioman and the SAW gunner have the most dangerous jobs in the military. The enemy sharpshooters always target those guys. Because the radioman is the link to support and the SAW gunner is the one laying down the most fire.

I think I'm gonna turn in, lol, as I fear I'm becoming less and less coherent...Night, Goodall.

Same here. I can never find it anywhere. Scary premise, though.

Have you guys ever seen a movie by the name of "Teeth?"
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:52 am
And then he went and won lots of Oscars.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:52 am
You got it right.....Mrs Mooo almost threw up watching that film.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:51 am
The other day I watched the CHEAPEST horror movie..."How to Make a Monster." That chick from Heavymetal was topless in it.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:50 am
Gotta love lawnmower dude. I think, or was that Brain Dead? I love any campy horror film.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:49 am
have you ever seen "dead alive"?
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:49 am
lol That's comically bloody. Makes Quinton look sane.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:48 am
Yea, you have to take it as the incredibly campy stuff it is. The final fight involves a meat grinder.

MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:39 am
Last time I was there, I went to this cult movie store. Can't recall the name, but me and my brother picked up a film by the name of Ricky-O that is banned in the US for violence.

Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:38 am
@Sean: Yeah, I'll try some of his other stuff. It was the whole Copperfield angle that drew me to the story, and I aught to give the guy a fair shake.

Piers Anthony The Mode Series. Excellent Books. and i agree with Ender's Game's pedastal position in anyones mind these days i just hope they dont ruin it with the movie
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:33 am
I love this....no one else I know reads anything but readers digest.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:32 am
Read some other short stories of his. "The Tomb" is a bit of an aquired taste. It takes longer to get going than a lot of his other ones.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:31 am
I always have trouble finding Lovecraft. Not big in cow town apparently. Though I keep trying to find a copy of 'The Great God Pan' which both Lovecraft and King were both quoted as one of their biggest influences and most terrifying story they've read.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:31 am
I have a friend that swears by Lovecraft. I read one of his short stories, "In the Tomb of the Pharoes." Didn't think much of it, but I'll probably pick him up again.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:31 am
I don't go in for older horror Sean.....But HG Wells ....let me just say, I'd give his corpse a reach around for an unpublished novel.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:30 am
There's nothing wrong with being g** ... just don't read Twilight ... that's just g**.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:29 am
Stranger in a strange land is epic....but have you read "to sail beyond the sunset" or "Friday"?.....god I love SF.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:28 am
God, I gotta get faster with these comments. I'm getting jumped all over the place.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:27 am
How about H.P. Lovecraft? Read most of his stuff. Solid horror.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:27 am
King has gone downhill IMO....Barker is still the master....if he ever publishes anything......not that I'm complaining Clive...please don't hurt me.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:27 am
@Moo+: Of course, water brother, Heinland's the man...and the reason I occasionally use the word grock. I haven't read him as extensively as I'd like, but I've read the really well-known stuff...like Stranger and Starship Troopers.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:27 am
Friend of mine read Twilight. We still think he's g**, and most of us decided to get him the twilight blankets they sold at the grocery store we work in, as a joke.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:26 am
I've still got to pick up Stephen Kings new book, Under the Dome too.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:26 am
Oh yeah, The Vampire Chronicles ... wish my wife would read them. At the age of 4* she just read all of the *gasp* Twilight thingies. I figure/fear she'll be cruisin' the local high schools soon.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:25 am
or spider Robinson?...right now I'm on a Poul Anderson bender....and this new (er) guy Scott Lynch.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:24 am
Oh, about your earlier question, if you're looking for a tragic series (the epic sort of thing) William Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy is excellent.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:23 am
Dark Tower is everything. Gotta love a horror/western/sci fi/fantasy/drama/romace/action book. And when I mean epic, I mean giant wars, multiple books, whole scale slaughter, all that fun stuff.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 3:23 am
never been a big Bradbury fan....don't know why....I have 34 Asimov first editions and 112 total hard covers....Card is the ****....but have you read any Heinlein?
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:22 am
Ah, Epics...like the Lord of the Rings trilogy or...Vampire Chronicles? I've read a few of those. Epics...The Dark Tower Series is fantasy I think. Science-y fantasy, but fantasy.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:18 am
Talking animals tend to count. Though the ones I read have less talking animals, more sweeping epic plots going over 8 or more books, along with lots of stabby stabby.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:18 am
Poe is horror, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:17 am
And even though it was written back in 89, I think, it's not at all dated.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:16 am
That's great. I should probably read more fantasy than I have. lol More than Harry Potter and Johnathan Stroud, anyway. Poe counts, right? Talking ravens...
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:15 am
I only know of it from a concept album based off the first one. Though the creature in it sounds pretty freakin terrifying as far as books go.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:13 am
Sorry Mr.R, was working on my comment while you were posting yours -- wanted to make sure it was a trilogy of sorts.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 3:12 am
I recommend Hyperion by Dan Simmons. First of a trilogy. So if you like it, there's more.
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 3:04 am
I'll probably grab a few after I finish off the Drizzt series, and Jon Stewarts comedy book. Still got plenty of time before the next Wheel of Time book. Gotta find Hyperion still.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:03 am
too* Let's see...who else. Asimov is a good standard. His short stories are magnificent...same goes for Bradbury, the only man who get away with making a sequel to the House of Usher. lol
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 3:00 am
Orson Wells is great to. That's where I got the Fourth dimension stuff from, "The Time Machine."
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 2:58 am
questions be. @Random: Heinland is one of my favorites. Another, more contemporary, author I like is Orson Scott Card. His novel, Ender's Game, was one of the first I ever read as a child...and I STILL find myself going back to it from time to time.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 2:55 am
There was a time when no one knew that germs existed, because they are so incredibly small. Is it then possible that something is too large for us to notice? Hell, we could be the germ on the back of a germ. The possibilities are limitless; so should the
MrRandom - January 3, 2010, 2:55 am
Actually, who do you recommend? I'm tearing through some fantasy series right now, and would like to grab some sci fi books after.
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 2:53 am
SF fan Bart......who do you read?
Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 3, 2010, 2:53 am
I'm not so eloquent as you two....but after you die, You rot and that's all........I'm quite sure of that.
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 2:53 am
dimension, time. (I read a LOT of science fiction.)Could he be said to have a beginning or and end? I'm not Christian, because I haven't made up my mind, lol, But I like to think that there are things beyond this mortal veil. What makes us so ****y?
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 2:50 am
Life without death would be rather crampt, Sean. Don't you think? Is it really so far fetched to think that there may be a higher consciousness that governs this plane of existence? And what if this being, being all powerful, existed outside the fourth
Sean - January 3, 2010, 2:46 am
that seems to love to end human life as vigorously as possible. And don't even get me started on the subject of feline leukemia.
Sean - January 3, 2010, 2:45 am
Of course you can believe that there was this Santa God which always existed and was perfect, but still decided to make us and everything else, including the numerous diseases which seem to love killing kids -- to say nothing of all the other nastiness...
Bartimaeus - January 3, 2010, 2:40 am
Thank you, sir, I'm glad you appreciate the sentiment. Aggressive atheism could be intellectually bankrupting, if it becomes too widespread. The a**umption that there is nothing should not become the answer to life's great question. That's stagnation.
Treehodger - January 3, 2010, 2:31 am
Well said Bartimaeus. Well said.
Bartimaeus - November 22, 2009, 3:31 am
there are scholars. We can't let spiritual speculation die, because it has its place. It's an integral part of the human experience.
Bartimaeus - November 22, 2009, 3:30 am
speculation. It's lead to some of the great writings and philosophies throughout the centuries. Th sense of self makes for a sense of morality. In valuing our own being, we learn to value that of others. Sure, there are idiots...but, to the other extreme
Bartimaeus - November 22, 2009, 3:27 am
No, religion is all a part of the human experience. We have a desire to make sense of our place in the cosmos. Most would like to think that they exist as more than just an organism, a random mass of atoms. And, if you ask me, there's nothing wrong with
johnson2 - May 27, 2009, 4:15 am

mrawesomo - May 26, 2009, 1:55 pm
That isn't atheism, that's the big bang theory. Even if it was, it's incredibly similair to the belief that there was nothing then there was god and god made everything.
